Senior Fire Safety Engineer

Network Rail is seeking a qualified Fire Safety Engineer to provide technical leadership within the Health and Safety Directorate. This permanent role focuses on fire safety, management, design, and engineering across the UK's railway infrastructure. You will be part of a dedicated team, contributing to the safe and efficient movement of passengers and freight.

About the Team

This role is part of the Technical Authority within the Health and Safety Directorate, working alongside a Head of Profession and a Principal Fire Engineer. A key aspect of the role involves engaging with various regions, routes, and functions to promote and contribute to the effective deployment of fire safety from both operational and engineering perspectives.

You should be confident working within a complex operational environment, influencing a wide range of stakeholders, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. A proactive and innovative mindset is essential, along with the ability to analyse data to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria

• Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers or other recognised fire engineering professional body (e.g., SFPE).
• Degree or equivalent qualification in fire engineering (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering Design).
• Significant experience in fire safety at a management level.
