About the role

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is seeking to appoint a Senior Commercial Insights Manager for an 18-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This role is crucial for leading the company's commercial insights and analysis activities, combining customer research with robust revenue reporting to identify performance trends and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Insight: Develop and deliver the commercial analysis and insights strategy, providing actionable insights to inform commercial plans. Lead customer and market research projects, and present tailored analysis to senior stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Financial Planning & Performance: Oversee annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for passenger revenue, car parks, and commissions. Monitor and mitigate commercial risks, and ensure commercial programmes are optimized for revenue benefits.
  • Leadership & Commercial Culture: Lead and develop the Commercial Insights team, fostering capability growth and succession planning. Champion commercial thinking across the business and represent EMR at industry forums.

What we need from you:

  • Strong expertise in data analysis, forecasting, financial modelling, and visualization.
  • High commercial acumen with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Proven leadership experience in developing high-performing teams (minimum 3 years).
  • Strategic thinking and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communication skills, capable of translating complex data into clear insights.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Degree level education or equivalent.

While experience with UK rail revenue processes is advantageous, it is not essential. The role operates on a hybrid working policy (2-3 days remote, 2-3 days on-site), with flexibility available. Successful candidates will be expected to support frontline colleagues when required.
