About the role

You will help keep our nation moving every single day by supporting the daily upkeep of the rail network. As an operative, you'll work outdoors in a small team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users. We focus on your transferrable skills and behaviours, providing all the necessary training to work safely and competently on the network. Salary

£32,639 per annum

Please Note: There may be a requirement to work on call in this role if you opt to take the Standard Maintenance contract.

Your experience and skills

You will:

• Carry out work safely and in accordance with safe systems of work procedures, method statements or other instructions.
• Undertake work and associated duties for which you are trained and competent.
• Undertake work activities as directed, in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with all relevant standards.
• Check that vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials under your control are fit for use and are used/stored and disposed of correctly.

Essential criteria

• Able to work as part of a team.
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post, required by the business need.
• Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ 1 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
• Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
