About the role
Greater Anglia is forward planning for future roles as a Ticket Office Clerk at Norwich Station. Successful applicants will be placed in a Talent Bank for up to six months, with potential offers if suitable opportunities arise. Positions may be available as Static or Relief roles, on either a full-time or part-time basis.
About the Role
This role involves supporting customers by assisting them with using ticket machines and guiding them on new ticketing technology, such as smart cards and the mobile app. Full training and uniform are provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting customers, selling tickets, and addressing customer inquiries with a friendly and customer-oriented approach.
- Supporting customers with ticket machines and providing guidance on new ticketing technologies, including smart cards and mobile apps.
- Ensuring adherence to safety, security, and cash regulations while maintaining ticket machines.
- Utilising company systems such as Fujitsu Star and Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).
- Conducting security checks as part of the station security plan.
Candidate Profile:
- Friendly, approachable demeanor with effective communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and think on their feet.
- A “can-do” attitude and enjoyment of teamwork.
- Pride in providing excellent customer service and ensuring customer safety.
- Team spirit and a willingness to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Familiarity with using new technology such as smartphones.
- Knowledge of ticket types would be beneficial.
Working Hours and Requirements:
- Average of 35 hours per week over 4 days, between Monday – Saturday with occasional Sunday working.
- Shift-based work including early starts (from 04:15) and late finishes (up to 21:10), weekends, and bank holidays.
- Must be able to arrange own transport for timely arrival.
- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Employment subject to Right to Work, DBS checks, and medical assessment where applicable.
