About the role

Greater Anglia is currently planning for future Platform Host (Train Dispatcher) roles and is inviting applications to build a Talent Bank for up to six months. Successful applicants may be offered a role if a suitable opportunity arises during this period.

Positions can be either Static with consistent shift patterns or Relief roles with weekly rosters. Roles may be available on a full-time or part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe station environment and deliver effective customer service.
  • Assist passengers, including those with mobility or visual impairments, and help with luggage and wheelchairs.
  • Collaborate with train crew for smooth service operations and communicate effectively with other departments.
  • Deploy station ramps and assist passengers during boarding and alighting.
  • Comply with safety regulations, reporting faults and hazards.
  • Provide support to customers during service disruptions.

Training and Requirements:

  • A compulsory 5-day Dispatch training course at the Stratford Academy is required, followed by a final assessment.
  • Full training and uniform will be provided.
  • The role involves working an average of 35 hours per week, with shift-based work including early starts (from 0600), late finishes (up to 2315), weekends, bank holidays, and night shifts.
  • Candidates must be over 18 years of age and able to arrange their own transport for all shifts.
  • Preparedness to work in all weather conditions and undertake regular movement around stations.
  • Employment is subject to satisfactory Right to Work checks, a DBS check, and a safety-critical medical assessment.
