About the role

Customer Service Hybrid (Area Relief) - Talent Bank

Greater Anglia is currently planning for future Customer Service Hybrid (Area Relief) roles based at Norwich Station. If successful, you will be added to our Talent Bank for up to six months. During this period, you may be offered a suitable role should one become available.

Positions can be either full-time or part-time. Relief roles offer flexibility, with rosters issued weekly, one week in advance.

Role Details

  • You will work an average of 35 hours per week over 4 days. This is a shift-based role and involves early starts (from 04:15), late finishes (until 01:40), weekends, and bank holiday working.
  • This is a relief role offering flexibility, with weekly rosters issued the Wednesday prior to the shift.
  • You will be covering the following stations: Norwich, Diss, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, and Thetford.
  • You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure you can arrive punctually for early and late shifts.
  • The role includes a mandatory 5-day Dispatch training course followed by a final assessment.
  • Employment is conditional upon satisfactory Right to Work checks, a DBS check, and a safety-critical medical assessment.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Pay Progression is structured as follows:
    • 0-6 months: £25,435 per annum
    • 6-12 months: £26,471 per annum
    • 12-24 months: £29,429 per annum
    • 24+ months: £33,664 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service, including meeting and greeting, selling tickets, and answering inquiries with a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Assist customers with ticket machines and educate them on new ticketing technologies such as smart cards and mobile apps.
  • Oversee day-to-day platform operations, ensuring smooth travel for all customers, including supporting passengers with mobility impairments.
  • Offer support during disruptions by assisting customers and maintaining effective communication with Drivers and Conductors.
  • Comply with safety regulations, reporting faults and hazards, as you will be responsible for the safe and punctual dispatch of trains.
  • Safely operate customer access ramps and assist passengers with their luggage.
  • Provide support to visually impaired customers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, maintaining a clean and tidy station, and occasionally working alone.
