Assistant Project Manager (Infrastructure) (0847)

About the Role

This is an opportunity to support the delivery of infrastructure projects for Transport for Wales. You will be responsible for coordinating project activities, stakeholders, and governance requirements, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to agreed time, cost, and quality objectives.

Role Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager with contract management activities, including the administration of Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
• Arrange and attend risk reduction meetings and risk register reviews to manage project risks.
• Review project documentation submitted by delivery partners, ensuring compliance with TfW governance, safety, and project assurance requirements.
• Support the planning and coordination of project delivery activities by attending meetings and engaging with stakeholders.
• Assist in providing pre-construction information, working with Project Managers and delivery teams to support compliance with CDM Regulations 2015.
• Maintain project records, action trackers, risk and issue registers, and other project controls documentation.
• Support procurement activities by coordinating documentation and maintaining procurement records.
• Support the integration of environmental and sustainability requirements into project delivery.
• Support project governance activities, ensuring deliverables meet project lifecycle requirements.
• Support the review of programme submissions by coordinating with project teams and stakeholders to identify and escalate issues.

Who We're Looking For

• Possession of or working towards a relevant qualification and/or professional accreditation (e.g., APM PFQ, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent).
• Demonstrated knowledge of the project lifecycle and ability to support delivery activities.
• Awareness of health, safety, environmental & Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.
• Effective communication of project information within the project team and wider stakeholder group.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and ability to manage action trackers, programmes, reporting, and risk/issue processes.

Welsh Language Skills

While not essential, Welsh language skills would be an advantage. TfW offers support for learning or improving Welsh skills through online learning, classroom courses, and community courses.
