Greater Anglia is looking for an inspirational and proactive Assistant Group Station Manager to support the leadership of a group of stations. The role is focused on delivering an outstanding customer experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety, operational performance, and colleague engagement. This is a highly visible leadership position where you will work closely with front-line teams, customers, and stakeholders to ensure the safe, punctual, and reliable operation of the railway. You will help drive performance, lead operational excellence, support business transformation, and create an environment where colleagues can thrive and deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a safety culture and ensure full compliance with railway and company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support and develop station teams through visible leadership, coaching, and performance management.
- Deliver excellent customer service and lead teams to provide a positive customer experience across all stations within your area.
- Monitor and improve operational performance against key business targets and KPIs.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning, and colleague development activities.
- Manage station facilities, ensuring stations remain safe, attractive, and well maintained.
- Oversee train dispatch and station retail operations to ensure compliance and performance standards are achieved.
- Manage staff deployment, rostering, and resource planning to meet customer and business needs.
- Support emergency planning, disruption management, and business resilience activities.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders including internal departments, Network Rail, trade unions, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Assist with investigations, audits, performance reviews, and the application of HR policies and procedures.
- Deputise for the Group Station Manager when required.
Requirements:

- The ability to remain calm and effective during periods of disruption and change.
- Knowledge of station operations, train dispatch, ticketing systems, or railway operations would be advantageous.
Role Details:
- This role is primarily Monday to Friday, but you must be able to work flexibly, including some weekends and early/late shifts when required, as well as on call duties.
- This is an area-based role (West) covering between Stansted Mountfitchet & Roydon. Locations include Harlow Town and Bishop’s Stortford.
- You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure timely arrival for shift times.
- Employment is subject to satisfactory Right to Work checks, a DBS check, and a safety-critical medical assessment.
