Overview
Assist the Tunnel Engineering team with the engineering management of tunnel works, ensuring documentation, data collation, and administrative tasks support project progression. This role involves close collaboration with various teams and providing essential engineering support.

About the role
The function of the Engineering Support is to assist the Tunnel Engineering team in the engineering management of the various tunnel works. This will involve assisting with the preparation of tunnel specific documentation to enable the works to progress without delay, and collating data to support the implementation of the PTE process including providing tunnel drive specific input into the SRG meetings.
The role will also assist with Engineering administrative tasks to support the various engineering functions, provide stand-in-cover for the Tunnel Engineers, and conduct tunnel visits for data collection and review. The role will report to the Tunnel Engineering Manager.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Shift Review Group (SRG) and Permit to Excavate (PTE) process, including the technical review of ground movements from the tunnelling works and reconciling the ground movements against TBM parameters.
- Contributing to the QA function for the tunnel drives and ensuring that the required assurance evidence is obtained and stored correctly.
- Manage progressive assurance for tunnel segments by creating and reviewing documentation packages.
- Being a focal point between the various 3rd parties / utilities teams and the tunnel delivery team, ensuring that 3rd party approvals are actioned within the SRG as necessary.
- Ensuring that engineering aspects of tunnel management are captured in the programme.
- Engineering review of technical submissions.
- Assist to review instrumentation and monitoring data for surface movements due to tunnelling.
- Review of Ground Movement Assessments to understand predicted movements of third party assets.
The Ideal Candidate
- Engineering degree - working towards Chartership.
- Tunnelling experience preferable but not essential.
